*** However, I’m here to tell you that, it’s simply not true, in fact that’s a fallacy. *** Many people often reason that the little that they earn is too small for them to be faithful stewards and only if they had more, they would be faithful. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own?” *** Jesus goes on to say in Luke 16:10-12 that “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. *** GOD is the rich man in this parable and we are all going to have to give an account of our stewardship. And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship for thou mayest be no longer steward.” *** *** We will all have to give an account of our stewardship and listen the words of Jesus in Luke 16:1-2, “And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods. *** Most people who become rich tend to switch and forget God and that’s why we are reminded in Deuteronomy 8:18, that “thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth.” *** *** God cannot entrust us with more than our needs sometimes because when He gives us more, we tend to increase our lifestyles to consume the extra He has entrusted us with upon ourselves. Today, many of God’s stewards are consuming that which God has entrusted into their hands upon their own lusts. *** Stewards take care of that which belongs to someone else. *** Stewardship is a holistic and righteous approach to godly living. *** Stewardship is a lifestyle and many of us are not being faithful in that which God has given us to do as it relates to our time, talent, temple and treasures. *** You see, the redeemed of the earth will reign with Christ BUT if we are to be counted worthy to inherit the kingdom, we will have to prove ourselves faithful in every area of our lives. *** The word faithful is the Greek word PISTOS and it means “trusted, reliable, to show oneself faithful in the transaction of business to execute commands and the discharge of official duties.” *** It is for that reason why Paul specifically wrote that: “Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” (1 Corinthians 4:2). *** Stewardship is God’s most sacred trust to us as humanity *** *** We are not our own because we belong to God. *** Everything we have and everything we become in life, is as a result of God’s goodness and grace towards us. *** Man was not created to go on a frolic of his own because we are all answerable to God and we must give an account to Him. *** Adam was the caretaker, overseer, and steward of God’s creation. *** Genesis 2:15 tells us that “the LORD God took the man, and put him into the Garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.” *** *** GOD did not turn over the ownership of His creation to Adam, but rather made him a steward of all the works of His hand. *** God gave Adam autonomy and the privilege of naming every living creature that He had created. *** God gave man dominion over all His creation. *** In creating man, God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” (Genesis 1:26). *** We must never lose sight of the fact that GOD is the CREATOR and we are mere stewards. For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.” (Psalm 24:1-2). *** The very first verse of the Bible tells us that “in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth” (Genesis 1:1) and the Psalmist David adds his voice by stating emphatically that “the earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof the world, and they that dwell therein. If we are to understand and operate in stewardship principles, it is necessary for us to revisit the creation story. The Word of God proclaims that all things belong to the LORD and we are only stewards of His vast creation. *** Many of us confess with our mouths that everything we have belong to God, but our actions most times prove that we believe the opposite. *** One of the key areas of our Christian life that we pay lip service to is the area of stewardship. We have seemingly forgotten that God is the Creator and we are the curators and overseers. *** Humanity in all its complexities and its vast knowledge and learning, has somehow overlooked the simple fact that God owns everything. “Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” THEME: STEWARDSHIP – A LIFESTYLE OF FAITHFULNESS
